Factory Visit for 6th Form Puplis Hailed as Great Success
Dodd Group's Stockport team has been working with Morgan Sindall on two projects, The Deanery High School and Hawes Side Academy, on the Priority Schools Building Programme in the North West As part this framework the EFA encourage initiatives for the employment of apprentices, work placements for college students and educational school visits.
Dodd Group committed to support Morgan Sindall in fulfilling the corporate and social responsibilities set out as part of the framework. Over the duration of both projects Dodd Group has employed a technical electrical apprentice, provided work placements for plumbing college students and organised a factory visit to Whitecroft Lighting, one of the key manufacturers on the NW4 school projects.
6th form students currently studying engineering at The Deanery High School in Wigan were given the opportunity to visit the factory to see how the products were made utilising the latest technology. The pupils were split into two groups and given a guided tour by Whitecroft representatives, taking in all elements of the build process including the manufacturing of LED panels, associated sheet metal work, the spray booth process, wiring and testing. They also visited the demonstration suites where Whitecroft present the latest lighting controls technology and demonstrate how this can be used in different environments.
The day turned out to be a great success and all the students fully interacted in all aspects of the Whitecroft manufacturing process asking very valid and interesting questions.
