Tredegar Health and Wellbeing Hub
Project name: Tredegar Health and Wellbeing Hub
Client: Aneurin Bevan University Health Board
Location: Tredegar
M&E Order Value: £2 Million
Contractor: Kier Construction
Consultant: AECOM
Dodd Group was appointed to Kier Construction's Framework Delivery team for the development of the Aneurin Bevan Hospital site in Tredegar. This houses two existing GP practices working independently to provide general medical services. The facility will also house a community pharmacy, dental practice, social care and community service as well as third sector partner accommodation.
The project was predominantly new build with exception of the integration of the historic Aneurin Bevan memorial entrance / reception.
The aim of the project was to deliver a modern and efficient building that utilises low carbon solution technologies. There is significant HTM compliance throughout.
The project was fully designed and coordinated in BIM where early first fix activities commenced on site in January 2023 with project completion targeted for September.
Offsite fabrication at our Cardiff Centre, 29 miles from Tredegar using labour and suppliers local to the Centre reduced travelling carbon. Multiple orders arriving at the Centre via single deliveries reduced material transport miles. Pre-assembly reduced site installation duration and site labour. Materials ordered to size means everything fits, so less materials are used and waste is reduced, all lowering embodied carbon with and estimating saving of 5.5 kgCO2e/m2
The Bevan Health and Wellbeing Centre is built on the former site of where the Tredegar General Hospital once stood and is located in the hometown of Aneurin Bevan, the founder of the NHS.
