Pittville Campus Student Accommodation was a University of Gloucestershire development at the Pittville Campus site in Cheltenham. The Design and Build project involved the refurbishment and conversion of an existing and award winning Media Centre in to a Student Union, Catering and University Administration building and also the construction of 8 new accommodation blocks providing 577 units of various types of student accommodation.
There are 5 new cluster blocks and 3 new town houses offering a range of Standard, Studio and disabled suite accommodation and communal living spaces.
Dodd Group was responsible for the complete Design and Installation of all Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing services throughout the project. The work included the provision of a new Energy Centre located in the Student Union Building that included 1.3MW of High Efficiency LTHW Boiler and CHP Plant. Primary LTHW is circulated to local plantrooms in each of the new accommodation buildings where it serves traditional radiator type heating system and is also used to generate DHWS through local calorifier units. Centralised extract systems provide ventilation of the accommodation units and the communal area living spaces.
Electrically, the development is served by 3 external substations, our responsibilities included the provision of Lighting, Power, Fire, Security, Access Control, High Speed Voice and Data Services, External Lighting and Site Wide CCTV monitoring. All systems are monitored centrally in the Student Union Building by the Building Management Control System.
