HMP Norwich - Video Conferencing Centre
Project name: HMP Norwich - Video Conferencing Centre
Location: HMP Norwich
M&E Order Value: £600,000
Contractor: Wates Smart Space
Dodd Group was awarded the contract to provide a new video conferencing centre at HMP Norwich. This involved the strip-out and refurbishment of the existing redundant gym building to house 16 VCC rooms, parole room, operator's suite, 2 holding rooms, reception, data room, sanitary facilities and circulation in connection. The new court was built to a high acoustic specification and the M&E equipment had strict noise levels that had to be achieved so as to not interfere with the sensitive VCC equipment. The refurbished building also achieved a BREEAM 2018 RFO Prisons 'very good' rating.
Having delivered a number of MOJ projects at HMP Norwich, our knowledge of the high security processes were invaluable in delivering a successful bespoke project with Wates Smart Space. The project was completed in-line with a strict programme, whilst minimising any impact of the day-to-day running of the prison.
The Scheme included fully controlled VRF comfort heating & cooling, full building Mechanical ventilation with fire dampers, local electric heating, attenuation and vibration control, Building management system, domestic water distribution (including water monitoring sensors), anti-ligature- vandal resistant sensor controlled sanitaryware, above ground drainage, low voltage electrical, UPS back-up system, fire protection, general and cell alarms, energy efficient internal and external lighting and controls, emergency safety lighting, electronic security, surge protection, earthing & bonding, electrical check metering, CCTV, data passive equipment installation and lightning protection.
